Lionel Mitchell's family and friends decided to celebrate his 80th birthday with a half acre dedication in Loxley Wood in Somerset.
His daughter Ann wrote:
It was a complete surprise to him when he was taken to the wood and handed the details of his dedication. We had chosen Loxley Wood because it was the nearest accessible wood to his home, with not too much walking up and down dale.
While contributions came from far and wide, including Australia, and from long-time friends and close and extended family, the message was clear. This was not only a gift with a difference, but a gift my Father could enjoy in all seasons, and it would make a positive contribution towards the upkeep of woodland for future generations to enjoy.
